North Window Arch overlooking Turret Arch at Sunrise by simonrim on Flickr.
This is a well photographed location in the park, so nothing original here. But its one of those places you’ve just have to get up early and go for it.
As you walk through the north window there is a scramble up about 40ft of rocks in the dark to a pedestal on top of a ledge. This pedestal is big enough for just 1 person and their tripod. I don’t like standing on the edge of ledges with bone breaking drops so I chose a low sitting position to get this shot. (I know I’m a chicken)
The early bird catches the worm as they say, and I was totally blessed to be the first there that morning. Although I shared the spot with pro photographer Terrell Moffett from Idaho who showed up 15 mins after me.
The light changes so dramatically here, I have another shot from a bit earlier pre sunrise and the rocks are much redder. But I’m well happy with this photo and can check this location off the list :)
I have one more shot to post tomorrow taken from a not so frequently shot angle which I think is better.
