“September 1961” by Denise Levertov
This is the year the old ones,
the old great ones
leave us alone on the road.
The road leads to the sea.
We have the words in our pockets,
obscure directions. The old ones
have taken away the light of their presence,
we see it moving away over a hill
off to one side.
They are not dying,
they are withdrawn
into a painful privacy
learning to live without words.
EP “It looks like dying”-Williams: “I can’t
describe to you what has been
happening to me”-
H. D. “unable to speak.”
The darkness
twists itself in the wind, the stars
are small, the horizon
ringed with confused urban light-haze.
They have told us
the road leads to the sea,
and given
the language into our hands.
We hear
our footsteps each time a truck
has dazzled past us and gone
leaving us new silence.
One can’t reach
the sea on this endless
road to the sea unless
one turns aside at the end, it seems,
follows
the owl that silently glides above it
aslant, back and forth,
and away into deep woods.
But for us the road
unfurls itself, we count the
words in our pockets, we wonder
how it will be without them, we don’t
stop walking, we know
there is far to go, sometimes
we think the night wind carries
a smell of the sea…Unesco

My newly created Facebook page: Moments | Photography
After a short break from Flickr, here is another shot from the street shopping in Siem Reap. Being a Buddhist nation, you will find all sorts of Buddha painting and artifacts in the market.
I love using my 50mm f1.8 when I go on the street because it gives me a lot of interesting opportunities like this but of course to do the entire range of street captures you need to be really equipped with many different lenses and I’m still in the infant stages when it comes to that. Hopefully some day I will have all the equipment that I desire.
Enjoy your Sunday, my friends. Thanks for your visit!

Indian Blue Peafowl by Foto Martien on Flickr.Via Flickr:
The Indian Peafowl (Pavo cristatus), also known as the Common Peafowl or the Blue Peafowl, is one of two species of bird in the genus Pavo of the Phasianidae family.
The peacock is the national bird of India and the provincial bird of the Punjab (Pakistan).
The national carrier of Sri Lanka, Sri Lankan Airlines uses a Peacock as its company logo. The Indian Peafowl is a resident breeder in the Indian subcontinent and has been introduced into many parts of the world; feral populations exist in many countries.
The species is found in dry semi-desert grasslands, scrub and deciduous forests.
It forages and nests on the ground but roosts in trees.
Females (the peahens) are about 95 cm long and weigh 2.75–4 kg, while males (the peacocks) average at about 2.12 m in full breeding plumage (107 cm) and weigh 4–6 kg.
The Indian Peacock has iridescent blue-green plumage. The upper tail coverts on its back are elongated and ornate with an eye at the end of each feather. These are the Peacock’s display feathers. The female plumage is a mixture of dull green, grey and iridescent blue, with the greenish-grey predominating.
