Dawn - Redux by DeeMac on Flickr.Via Flickr: My wonderful friend Jenny took me to Dockey Wood in Hertfordshire again this year, to the magical bluebell wood. Well worth getting up early for. This was taken just after 6.30 this morning. As an aside, Jenny told me to close my eyes at one point and only then could I hear a woodpecker’s rat-at-at-at in the background, punctuating the usual dawn chorus. I kept missing it when so much beauty was dazzling my eyes. Did a bit of sliding to get the tree silhouettes crisper. Happy Slider Sunday, guys! Thought this would do for Cliche Saturday, too. Sunbursts are just such a cliche, don’t you know? HCS! Putting this in as my Best Shot in 2011 because I love it and because I associate it with the dear friends who take me to this wonderful place each year. Funnily enough, a similar shot of Bluebell Dawn in Dockey Wood was my best shot of 2010! That one made the Guardian readers’ pictures. This one was flickr blogged. Neither made Explore, however. But regardless, I like them both.
